This viral video comes just in time as I’m starting to feel a little tired of the original “Running Up That Hill”.
Don’t get me wrong…. I absolutely love this song. I do, and I LOVE Stranger Things. Upon watching the “Running Up That Hill” episode, I turned to my oldest daughter and stated that they literally chose the perfect song. Now, even then, I didn’t expect the hit from 1985 getting any noticeable bump in the music world.
Boy, was I wrong.
The Netflix bump, accompanied with the TikTok bump, jolted “Running Up That Hill” to the very top of the charts and gave the single a 9,000% streaming boost on Spotify. Just like that, I’ve heard the original close to 78,000 times over the past month or so.
My point is, it’s nice to hear that song in a new way, finally, and we have a viral YouTuber to thank.
YouTuber Anthony Vincent decided to mash the two most popular songs from the fourth season of Stranger Things, combining to make a song I never knew I needed to hear. They performed “Running Up That Hill” to the tune of Metallica’s “Master of the Puppets” and it turned out absolutely incredible.
