Louisiana Hiker Found Alive After Missing for Four Days

In today’s world, good news is getting harder and harder to come by. However, today, we have quite a bit of good news to share with you, and we believe this news is worth celebrating.

When it comes to a missing person, it always feels worse and worse, the longer said person is missing. One man, who is from Baton Rouge, was missing for four days and at times, it appeared that all hope was lost.

Last week, 67-year-old Preston Smith went hiking alone in Arkansas on October 27th. The hike was originally planned as a six-mile trek on the Hemmed-in-Hollow trail near the Buffalo National River in Arkansas. Unfortunately, Smith lost his way during the hike, and quickly those close to him new something was wrong. Quickly, park officials launched a search for Smith, which looked quite grim for the better part of four days.

They searched the area relentlessly, to no avail. Park spokesperson Cassie Branstetter says that the four-day search was one of the longest searches they’ve ever performed. Luckily for all involved, their perseverance paid off.

Four days into their search, they found Preston Smith, who was fortunately uninjured. Speaking on his condition, Branstetter, says, “Definitely in need of water and food at that point and time, and in very high spirits. We were extremely happy to get him out of that space and reunited with his family.”
