There’s a new grocery store in town and they already have customers lining up to shop, shop, and shop.

Aldi has officially opened on Mansfield Road in Shreveport. Today, November 30th, is their grand opening and that clearly have hit the ground running. One listener drove by the new grocery destination early this morning and snapped a picture showing a parking lot overflowing with cars.

In 1961, the Albrecht Family founded the world’s first discount grocery store in Germany. 16 years later in 1976, they opened their first ALDI store in Iowa. Now, they operate more than 6,600 stores across 11 countries.

With Shreveport’s Aldi officially opened, that brings Louisiana’s number of Aldi locations to twelve.
