The murder trial of Tupac Shakur, originally scheduled to commence next month, has been delayed to 2026 following the emergence of new evidence suggested by attorneys representing the suspect, Duane “Keffe D” Davis. The defense claims that they may be able to demonstrate that someone else orchestrated the killing, and they need to interview additional witnesses and expand their investigation. The new revelations prompted the Nevada judge overseeing the case, Judge Carli Kierny, to reschedule the trial to February 9, 2026. “It looks like there are quite a few things that are left to be done to get this case prepared so that Mr. Davis can have effective assistance of counsel,” she said. “Given that, it appears as though I really don’t have much of a choice but to grant it.” Davis is facing first-degree murder charges in connection with the 1996 shooting death of rap icon 2Pac. He has maintained his innocence, although prosecutors have alleged his involvement in orchestrating the murder. (Rolling Stone)
